Avalanche Mayor's Cup ~ Tournament Information


“A Labor Day Tradition since 1984.”
The Utah Avalanche Mayor’s Cup has been a long-standing tradition for soccer teams over the Labor Day weekend. This weeklong tournament brings teams from all over the Intermountain area to compete. The longevity of this tournament has grown into a generational tradition with many players who competed as youth now bringing their own children’s teams to complete.

Rules

All Tournament games will be played under US Soccer and FIFA Laws of the Game unless otherwise indicated in these instructions. In the event of inclement weather, we reserve the right to alter schedules, fields, and playing times, and/or cancel any or all games impacted by weather conditions.

Registration

All teams are required to apply for the tournament and only applications that are submitted online can be accepted. Once an application is submitted it is reviewed by the tournament committee for acceptance. Teams are selected based on various criteria including, but not limited to, level of team, geographic location and number of spots available.

Teams Competing

Teams of all play levels apply to play each year. We place teams according to their play levels to create the best match ups possible. Each team is guaranteed at least three games in pool play. We play under US Soccer's guidelines of birth year age alignment and small-sided game structure for U9 - U12.

Fields

The Mayor’s Cup is played at the Salt Lake Regional Athletic Complex (RAC). The complex is comprised of 16 natural grass, sand-based fields (8 with lights) and is a destination for local, regional, and national tournaments. The RAC boasts breathtaking mountain views, has easy access off I-215 and just minutes away from downtown Salt Lake City and the airport.
